Resources for anyone who is starting their journey or trying to learn more about a topic are critical. Here is a list of resources that I found helpful for my transition and other resources that might be helpful for your transition. This is an ever-growing list, and I will keep adding resources to this page as I come across them.
Reddit can be a great resource. Here are some specific subreddits that are worth checking out. There is no specific order of importance or favorite
https://www.reddit.com/r/MtF/ – a general subreddit for MTF people
https://www.reddit.com/r/ftm/ – a general subreddit for FTM people
https://www.reddit.com/r/NonBinary/ – a general subreddit for nonbinary people
https://www.reddit.com/r/TransBreastTimelines/ – NSFW – this is a subreddit dedicated to and for trans people to show their breast growth over their transition
https://www.reddit.com/r/asktransgender/ – a subreddit to ask transgender people questions. This is useful for cis and trans people alike
https://www.reddit.com/r/Transgender_Surgeries/ – NSFW – a place to ask questions about surgeons, surgery techniques, and everything else that comes with surgery relating to trans people. This subreddit also has pics of surgery results as well.
https://www.reddit.com/r/TransWiki/wiki/wiki_index – specifically on the transgender surgeries subreddit, they have a Wikipedia index of different types of surgeries, different types of surgeons that are available based on state/country, reviews of those surgeons or surgeries, and before and after pics. The wiki index is an amazing resource if you are trying to find a trans-friendly surgeon and/or get the results you are looking for. They have everything listed from voice surgeries to FFS to bottom surgery. Not to mention, they also have information about electrolysis/laser and the requirements you need surgery or for your surgery to be covered by insurance. I can’t thank the people over at transgender surgeries for making the wiki index; it has been helpful to me and so many other trans people.
https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMtFHRT/ – a subreddit dedicated to asking questions about HRT or methods of HRT.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DrWillPowers/ – a subreddit that talks about the powers method, which is a nontraditional HRT method that is gaining traction within the trans community.
https://www.reddit.com/r/transvoice/ – this is a subreddit for trans people to get constructive criticism about their voice or learn about voice training.
https://www.reddit.com/r/transpassing/ – a subreddit that is to see how well you “pass” in the eyes of others.
https://www.reddit.com/r/trans/ – a subreddit for everything trans related.
https://www.reddit.com/r/transpositive/ – a subreddit dedicated to positive things about being trans or about your transition. It’s easy to drown in how hard being trans is or how hard it is to transition, and this subreddit is to talk about the positives.
https://www.reddit.com/r/asktransgender/comments/d6p05q/i_compiled_every_single_informed_consent_clinic/ – This is some of the original things I saw that made me want to make this listen. An amazing Reddit user ended up complaining about every single informed consent clinic in the U.S.A. You can walk into any of these locations and get hormones without having a doctor/therapist note. An amazing resource for someone who wants HRT but doesn’t know where to look.
